Level 3 • RQF

TQUK Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare

Qualification number 603/5555/4. 17 mandatory units, 62 credits, 468 guided learning hours (GLH) and 620 total qualification time (TQT).

Entry: no specific entry requirements; Learners should have at least Level 2 literacy and numeracy or equivalent. Recommended minimum age: 16.

TQT includes approximately 152 hours of additional learning beyond GLH. TQUK identifies further qualifications, the Children, Young People and Families Practitioner apprenticeship and residential childcare roles as progression routes.

Level 5 • RQF

TQUK Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare

Qualification number 603/5474/4. 90 credits in total: 64 mandatory credits and at least 26 optional credits; 570 GLH and 900 TQT.

Entry: no specific entry requirements; Learners should have at least Level 2 literacy and numeracy or equivalent. Recommended minimum age: 19.

TQT includes approximately 330 hours of additional learning beyond GLH. TQUK identifies the Children, Young People and Families Manager apprenticeship and residential childcare management roles among progression routes.

GLH are hours of guided learning. TQT is the overall estimate of time needed for learning and assessment, including guided and independent study. These figures describe the qualification, not a promised Kingfisher programme timetable.

Assessment and achievement

How assessment works.

Assessment must cover the learning outcomes and assessment criteria in the relevant TQUK specification. The qualification pages link to those specifications.

Evidence and assessment methods

TQUK describes internal assessment with external quality assurance. Depending on the unit requirements, evidence may include written assignments or tasks, questions, workbooks, portfolio evidence and observation of practical skills in real work situations. The evidence and activity required must meet the relevant unit criteria.

Achievement

For both qualifications, learners must meet all learning outcomes and assessment criteria to pass. The qualifications are not graded. Assessment decisions are internally quality assured and subject to TQUK external quality assurance.

Feedback and reassessment

How and when learners receive assessment feedback, what happens if evidence does not yet meet the criteria, and any reassessment arrangements or charges: Your assessor will provide you with dedicated assessment plan for each assignment you are assigned.

Support and initial assessment

Support starts with understanding your needs.

TQUK states that an initial assessment should identify a learner's current knowledge and skills and any additional specific support requirements. Kingfisher's learner support information describes a dedicated qualified assessor, webinars, guidance documents and support adapted to individual learning needs.

Initial assessment Prior to your first assignment we will give you a short unit to review your current level of learning and to assess how we can support you better. A qualified assessor will ensure book a hour call with you to review enrolment paperwork and set an assessment paper.
Reasonable adjustments How to request an adjustment, who to contact and how requests are considered: Our reasonable adjustment policy is located on Quals Direct and a copy will be emailed to you upon enrolment of the qualification, Your Allocated assessor will also go over this on the enrolment call.
