What is the qualification for?

TQUK states that the purpose is for learners to gain the knowledge and skills required to lead and/or manage others within a residential childcare setting.

Entry No specific entry requirements. Learners should have a minimum of Level 2 literacy and numeracy or equivalent.
Age Suitable for learners aged 19 and above.
Directed study TQUK expects approximately 330 additional hours over the programme cycle.
Progression TQUK identifies the Children, Young People and Families Manager Apprenticeship and residential childcare management roles among progression routes.

Assessor support A dedicated qualified assessor is part of Kingfisher's current learner support model; confirm the contact arrangements and frequency before enrolment.
Learning support All Learners will have access to Live and Recorded webinars, guidance documents and support this can also be adapted to individual learning needs.
Professional discussions All Learners will have the option to utilise 8 Professional Discussions across the 17 Units. This can be increased depending on Individual Learning Plans
Workplace observations Learners will receive two workplace observations by a DBS-approved assessor. This will be arranged the assessor, Learner and the learners manager.
Initial assessment and adjustments Initial assessment process, You will be provided a workbook to complete prior to assigning your First Unit. This will identify your current learning requirements to ensure we can provide you with the best support.
AI and Plagiarism Policy Learners must submit original work, reference sources correctly and avoid unauthorised AI use. Suspected plagiarism may require resubmission and could lead to disciplinary action.

Assessment

How assessment and evidence work.

TQUK states that the qualification is internally set and marked, subject to external quality assurance. Depending on the unit requirements, evidence may include written assignments or tasks, questions, workbooks, portfolio evidence and observation of practical skills in real work situations. The assessment activity and evidence must meet the relevant learning outcomes and assessment criteria in the TQUK specification.

Pass requirements

All learning outcomes and assessment criteria must be met to achieve a pass. There is no grading.

Internal assessment

Centre-devised assessment materials must be submitted to TQUK for approval before use and mapped to the relevant requirements.
